Here it is guys - here’s the second of 10 English learning secrets I am going to give you over the next few weeks.
STUDY AT HOME
English is not a scientific subject, it is an art subject. And with all art subjects the only way to learn it is to PRACTICE what you learn in the classroom outside the classroom.
If you go to class everyday and then simply go home and do not open your textbook again until you arrive at the next class - don’t expect to find yourself improving at English very quickly. Life. sadly is not like that.
To improve your level of English you MUST set aside 20 to 30 minutes everyday to practice what you learned. Look at the sentences, the structure and how the words fit together. And YES you must practice speaking it over and over again.
As a teacher of English for over 5 years I am amazed how students blame their institute or their teacher for not getting them to improve their English when they themselves have never opened their textbooks outside the classroom. If this is you, then you only have yourself to blame.
So, if you are really serious about improving your English, if you really do want to get a better score at TOEIC, speak English comfortably with foreigners or write better emails in English - put 20 or 30 minutes aside everyday for quiet English practice.
That’s all it takes.

ENGLISH LANGUAGE TIP…
Here’s quick tip for you. if you want to try and remember a new word, try and fit it into your everyday life. For example try using it when you are talking with your friends. It will certainly make you conversations more interesting and will have your friends asking you what it means, so it will help you to remember it Easy eh?
Ok, it’s bedtime now. Don’t forget it’s English Study Secret day tomorrow
On the BBC this week, there was a report that the London Underground map has been voted the most beautiful subway map in the world.

Welcome one and all the this week’s Friday post and comedy clip.
This week’s comedy clip comes from the 1970’s once again, and for all my English students - Great news! There’s no English in this to worry about. (well maybe a little at the beginning^^) This is visual comedy at it’s best.
The star of the clip is a British comedy star (sadly dead now) Benny Hill. So, sit back, relax and enjoy this fantastic example of slapstick comedy.
Finally, for a little photographic insiration to take you in to the weekend check out this photographer - Michael Grecco - Click here to see his site.
Have a wonderful weekend everyone and see you all again soon
Starting this week, I will be posting an English learning “secret” to help all my students learn English. There are many little ’secrets’ to learning English (or anything really) and on this blog I shall reveal them. So the first secret is here :-
DON”T QUIT
Here’s the bad news. There is no way on earth that you will learn English if you quit. Magic may exist, but you will never learn anything if you quit. Too many students think that they will learn to speak English in 3 months or less by attending a language institute. I am sorry to tell you, but this is simply not possible.
You need to commit yourself to 12 months of consistent, uninterrupted learning. If you cannot commit to 12 months, then wait until you can.
Learning English in a language institute is expensive. - Why waste your money if you quit before you can speak English?
So guys. DON’T QUIT It will get hard, it may even get boring, but it’s only 12 months. That’s all you need.
This week’s comedy clip is actually a real video. This is so funny - the title is “Computer Rage” and features a man getting rather upset with his computer. I am sure you have all felt like this sometimes
Take a look at his co-worker - that just makes me laugh
Today’s picture come from a picture I took of one of my parents’ dog. This is Archie. Je is a Welsh Border Collie and is full of life and energy. He is such a playful dog. I love this picture because it captures the character in his face.
Speaking of photography you have to check out this guy. His name is Jeremy Cowart and he is a Hollywood photographer. Check out his website here He is responsible for photographing famous TV and music stars.
I mentioned my new Pixyblog blog in my previous post - Well I can now inform you that yesterday my blog reached the top 50 most viewed blogs in the Pixyblog family. WOW! Not bad for only three days ^^
Well, that’s it for now. Have a great weekend everyone and see you all again soon
