Finally in this “Photography Thursday” post - check out this website about photographs taken the day before a tragedy happened. Pictures shown are one from Monday 10 September 2001 of the World Trade Centre in New York (yes, that’s right the day before 911) a picture taken in Hiroshima on 5th August 1945 (the day before the nuclear bomb was dropped), one taken in Soweto just before the riots there killed so many people and one of J K Kennedy in his office on the 21st November 1963 (yes, that’s right the day before he was shot) - Click HERE to view all 4 pictures
When you look at these pictures it really makes you think.
For those of you who enjoy watching English drama’s here’s a brand new BBC Drama. Set in 1981 Ashes to Ashes follows on from the recent hit “Life on Mars“
Here’s the thing - Sadly, last night a fire destroyed this fantastic historical monument in Seoul - but the amazing thing was that the previous night I shot the above picture of the rear of this fantastic monument. I had intended to come back next week to take a few shots of the front of it using my tripod.
What is really surprising here is that I was reading a blog post from Scott Kelby on the “photographer’s school of hard knocks” (click HERE to view post) where Scott had decided to come back the next day to take a picture of a water lily. That night a severe storm hit the area and when he was able to finally return to the pond, the water lily was water logged.
As usual, I did what most people do and think “yeah, I know but it can’t happen to me” … well it did.
It is a very sad day for all of us living in Korea to see this happen to such a beautiful monument and I for one hope that it can be restored to it original glory.
Below is a picture of what Sungnyemun looks like today
Welcome back all my Korean readers from the long Lunar New Year holiday. I hope you are all feeling refreshed and enjoying being back at work.
The above picture was taken at a recent night out I had with friends in Hongdai. This image is a pic of a friend of a friend of mine. I like the way the light bounces of the face and the intensive concentration on his face.
today sees the return of the popular “Photography Monday” series of posts. With the return I want you all to view the photography of Don Emmerich, a Canon Explorer of Light -
Check this little video clip out. It’s Britain’s shadow Foreign Minister (opposition) William Hague talking about a future President Tony Blair of Europe. VERY FUNNY ^^
Well, I’m back from visiting all my wife’s relatives in Gongju (공주) and Incheon (인천) and it has been an amazing trip. I have been involved in so many traditional ceremonies, including bowing to the relatives, paying repects at my father-in-law’s family tomb and drinking an awful lot of home made Korean wine (and WOW!!! does that blow your head off^^)
The above picture is a picture of the traditional table laid out to pay respects to my father-in-laws ancestors.
