More “Dave Hill” Look
Since learning how to re-create the “Dave Hill” look, I have done a little experimenting and here are the results.
This photo is the original with no alterations at all.
And this is the “dave Hill” treated photo.
I think I have to admit, from a purely artistic view the “Dave Hill” treated photo looks much more stunning.
Your views on this would be great though ![]()

Like the result.. how do you achieve this? it seems to me that there were no halos in this one as other techniques that I tried have been giving me halos…
Any pointers would be greatly appreciated

Hi Joseph,
Firstly, you will need to make sure that you take the picture in Camera Raw format. - I have tried doing this method with JPEG formats and I find that I get halos too. So to get the best results you will need to make sure that you take the picture using RAW.
Then I process it through camera Raw with the following settings :
Exposure: +1.75
Recovery: +100
Fill Light: +100
Blacks: 34
Brightness: +55
Contrast: +100
Clarity: 100
Vibrance: +100
Saturation -73
After I have these settings I usually have to make some alterations - kind of some fine tuning using the exposure, blacks and brightness. Sometimes you may find that reducing the saturation a little works too.
You can get a really good tutorial by going to Scott Kelby’s blog - Here’s the link…

I hope this helps you.
